Consero is honored to announce that John Dauer has joined the faculty for Consero’s 2012 Pharmaceuticals & Biotechnology IP Forum.

John L. Dauer, Jr. is Chief Patent Counsel for Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Sun Pharmaceutical Industrie s, Ltd., Mumbai, India. Mr. Dauer is based in Sun’s Cranbury, New Jersey manufacturing plant.

Mr. Dauer’s main responsibility at Sun is to develop and implement strate gies associated with Paragraph IV patent challenges, whether found i n Abbreviated New Drug Applications or subsequent ANDA/Hatch Waxman patent infringement litigations. He is also acting general counsel for Sun Inc. in the U.S, handling a variety of matters ranging from managing other commercial litigations to day-to-day corporate matters.

Prior to joining Sun, Mr. Dauer was in private practice, where he provided strategic counseling services to high-tech and global companies regarding patents and cutting-edge technologies. He spent most of his tim e litigating complex patent litigations, some of which involved multiple proceedings in other courts around the world and in the U.S. Patent Of fice. His other time was spent developing and implementing intellectual property strategies to protect and exploit intellectual property assets, negotiating and managing intellectual property-based transactions, counseling clients regarding intellectual property matters, and managing patent portfolios.

Mr. Dauer received his Juris Doctor degree from University of St. John’s School of Law, Jamaica, New York and his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree from Bucknell University College of Engineering, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. He is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey (as an in-house counsel), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in patent cases. Mr. Dauer is a frequent lecturer and author.
