Faculty: SUSIE FLOOK (The Body Shop International plc), Group General Counsel

Consero is honored to announce that Susie Flook has joined the faculty for Consero's European Corporate Counsel Forum 2012.
 
Susie Flook is currently Group General Counsel for The Body Shop International plc, with responsibility for all legal matters on a global basis. The Body Shop produces skin and hair care products and accessories, which are sold worldwide mainly through a franchise system. The company trades in 66 countries and has over 2,800 retail outlets. It is now a wholly owned subsidiary of L’Oreal of Paris. Ms. Flook was previously the company’s Group Intellectual Property Counsel. She has been with the company for over twelve years.
 
Prior to that, Ms. Flook was General Counsel - Intellectual Property for Diageo plc (formerly Guinness plc), an international company, producing, distributing, and marketing branded consumer products and services throughout the world. It is one of the world's most profitable alcoholic drink companies, the UK's leading exporter in the food and drinks sector, and the EU's fifth largest consumer foods group.
 
Ms. Flook is also a Founding Director and Past President of the American Corporate Counsel Association's (ACCA’s) European Chapter – now known as the Association of Corporate Counsel Europe (ACCE). This professional organisation exists to promote and support the role of the in-house counsel globally. Ms. Flook is now on the main board of the Association of Corporate Counsel.
 
Ms. Flook won the prestigious ACCA Member of the Year Award in 1999 and in 2003 received the Law Society of England and Wales Gazette Lifetime Achievement Award for outstanding service to the in-house counsel profession. In 2009, Ms. Flook and her IP team won the award for in-house excellence at the World Leaders International IP Awards ceremony in London.
 
Ms. Flook was previously Group Legal Counsel and Company Secretary for CPC (United Kingdom) Ltd, the UK subsidiary of the American multinational food manufacturer, CPC International Inc. (now owned by Unilever). She held this position for just over seven years, covering not only the UK legal function, but also CPC's European intellectual property work and certain acquisition and transaction work in the UK, Central and Eastern Europe, South Africa, Denmark, Holland, and Italy. 
 
Prior to working for CPC, Ms. Flook was Division Attorney for five years for The Coca-Cola Export Corporation in its Australasian and Central Pacific Divisions located first in Sydney and then later in Hong Kong. 
 
Ms. Flook gained her Arts and Law degrees from Sydney University. She currently resides in the UK.
