Faculty: GWENDOLYN SIMMONS (Mecklenburg County, North Carolina), Chief Information Officer

Consero is honored to announce that Gwendolyn Simmons will be joining the Forum faculty for Consero's Government IT Forum 2012.

Gwendolyn Simmons is the Chief Technology Officer of Mecklenburg County Government. With 31 years of IT experience, Ms. Simmons has made a significant impact in the technology community. She led the creation and establishment of a high-performing Project Management team using PMI methodologies and standards. She was also responsible for leading the creation and establishment of a high-performing Business Process Management team using Six Sigma industry methodologies and standards. In addition, she consolidated and redesigned an Applications Division to focus on growing skilled and innovative IT staff and leveraged System Architects’ expertise to span the enterprise of all application portfolios, driving application efficiency. 
 
Ms. Simmons was featured in Public CIO magazine for establishing a relationship with the City of Charlotte and Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools IT leaders to sell Project Management, Business Process Management, and Business Analyst services, which generated over $380,000 in revenue for FY11. 
 
Ms. Simmons’ business and civic experience includes serving as a member of the Society for Information Management (SIM) (2010-2011); the Project Management Institute (PMI) (2006-2011); NFBPA – Southern Piedmont Chapter (2009-2011); Tutor, Cities in Schools Program (1990-1994); and Treasurer of Southern University Alumni Chapter of Charlotte (1983-1996).
 
Ms. Simmons graduated from Southern University – Baton Rouge, LA, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
