Consero is honored to announce that Advisory Board Member, Ed Martinez, has joined the Forum faculty for Consero's Shared Services Forum 2011.
Ed Martinez is currently Vice President of the award winning Wendy’s/Arby’s Group Shared Services and was Vice President in the AT&T Finance organization and Head of the award winning BellSouth Shared Services entity. Mr. Martinez’s role in the Wendy’s/Arby’s Group in 2009 was to lead the design and implementation of a new Shared Services Center for accounting and payroll services, as well as serve as operations leader for the high-transaction volume processes and services. These efforts were done in conjunction with the merger and integration of Wendy’s and Arby’s brands and drove 30% annual savings in less than a year from initiation of the project. The Wendy’s/Arby’s Shared Services Center won the “2011 SSON Excellence Award in Value Creation” at the 15th annual Shared Services Conference in Orlando, Florida. In 2011, Mr. Martinez led the transition project efforts associated with the separation, divestiture, and sale of the Arby’s business.
Mr. Martinez's role in the BellSouth Shared Services Center included providing strategic direction and operational oversight for multi-functional processes and services. Mr. Martinez was the primary driver in creating and selling the vision of the enterprise-wide Shared Services Center and he served on the project leadership team responsible for designing and implementing that vision. Mr. Martinez’s past experiences in BellSouth included serving in various finance and project roles such as Corporate Accounting and Systems at BellSouth headquarters, financial planning and analysis, activity-based costing, external financial and regulatory reporting, compliance and internal controls, contract administration, and performance measurements.
Mr. Martinez is heavily involved in external global Shared Services industry benchmarking and networking associations, he has been a featured speaker in numerous external conferences, and he has published articles in the areas of benchmarking, performance management, and best practices. Mr. Martinez was publicly honored in 2010 by the Shared Services and Outsourcing Network (SSON) web-based news magazine for his significant contribution to SSON, as well as to the Shared Services industry at large.
